Zurich, Switzerland, Nov. 5, 2008 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, will be holding a ground-breaking ceremony on November 11, in Vietnam at Tien Son Industrial Zone, Tu Son District, Bac Ninh Province, one of the attractive areas for foreign investment. ABB has committed to invest nearly $30- million in this new facility, which has been licensed by Bac Ninh Industrial Zones Management Authority.
The new factory will be built on an 87,000m² land and is expected to go into full operation by the end of 2009. It will produce medium voltage and high voltage power products and will serve both the local and the overseas markets. The new plant is part of ABB’s ongoing initiative to build new capacity in the fast growing Asian market and to further develop its presence in Vietnam.

The location in Bac Ninh province was decided thanks to the support of the local authorities and because of the availability of local skilled labor force. On a long term, ABB plans to hire several hundreds of local new employees. ABB offers a solid program to train its employees and provide them with the adequate skills to perform jobs in line with ABB’s global standards.
