Vietnam's President hails Gazprom’s cooperation

VietNamNet Bridge - President Nguyen Minh Triet has praised the effective cooperation between Russia’s natural gas company Gazprom and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation (PetroVietnam) in gas industrial development.

The President heralded the Vietnam-Russia gas cooperation while receiving Gazprom’s General Director Miller Aleksei Borisovich on May 23 in Hanoi.

President Triet applauded the agreement on establishing an oil and gas exploration and exploitation joint venture and holding training courses for Vietnamese guest workers in Russia .

He said he wished for the two corporations to have many successes in the new area in order to strengthen the countries’ relations and emphasised that oil and gas is a key industry which contributes to Vietnam ’s development.

The director informed the President of results from the cooperation between Gazprom and PetroVietnam and said the two sides have agreed to continue their cooperation in oil and gas industrial development, highlighting the establishment of their joint venture company for oil and gas exploration and exploitation in Russia .

He stressed that this was Gazprom’s first foreign joint venture in Russian territory, adding that the company will help train 30 Vietnamese researchers and guest workers of PetroVietnam each year.

On the same day, the director was also received by Politburo member and CPV Central Committee Secretariat Standing member Truong Tan Sang.
