Vietnam launches country's largest oil tanker

Giant oil tanker put into operation

Viet Nam Shipping Lines Corporation (Vinalines) launched the country’s largest oil tanker on December 4.

The tanker is 183m long, 32.3m wide and 19.1m high, and has a 50,530 DWT capacity.

This latest purchase by Vinalines Galaxy brings the number of ships the corporation has bought over the past 11 months to 31. Together the ships have a capacity of 802,948 DWT.

Vinalines plans to develop its fleet to 134 with a total capacity of nearly 2.4 million DWT till the end of 2007.
