Vietnam Airlines Corp. said it is buying 12 more Boeing Co. 787-8 airplanes

Vietnam Airlines Corp. said it is buying 12 more Boeing Co. 787-8 airplanes, adding to the four 787s it ordered back in 2005.

The latest order, valued at around $1.9 billion at list prices, will be delivered beginning in 2015. The airline's first four Everett, Wash.-built 787s will be put into operation beginning in 2009.

Parts of the 787 are being made at Boeing of Portland, in Gresham.

Airline officials also said that they will begin flying between Ho Chi Minh City and Los Angeles five times a week in late 2008, using Chicago-based Boeing Co.'s (NYSE: BA) 777-200ER aircraft.
