GE Energy Invests $50 Million To Build Manufacturing Facility In Vietnam

General Electric Co.'s (GE) GE Energy unit is investing about $50 million to build a manufacturing facility in Vietnam.

The industrial and entertainment holding company' said GE the new factory will produce components for GE's power generation equipment.

The components produced in Vietnam will be sent to the company's manufacturing and service facilities around the globe for use in finished products, the company said.

GE Energy said construction is scheduled to begin by the end of 2007 and the facility is projected to be operational by the end of 2009.

The facility is expected to employ more than 400 people when fully operational.
