VietnamComm to focus on wireless tech
HA NOI — VietnamComm ’07, the country’s largest ICT exhibition, will focus on wireless and information technology this year, organisers have said.
The four-day event that opens Wednesday at Ha Noi’s Giang Vo Exhibition Centre will be an opportunity for local and foreign companies to exchange information, advertise products and services, and seek investment opportunities.
VietnamComm ’07 will look specifically at the country’s new business environment following entry into the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in January, and include a two-day conference on wireless and information technology. Conference delegates will discuss development and technology conversion.
The event is organised by the Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Hong Kong-based Adsale Exhibition Service Company. The Vietnamese telecom industry has grown aggressively by an average of 30 per cent a year. Of the 84 million people in Viet Nam, only 47 per cent of the population subscribe to telephone services and 17 per cent to internet accounts.
The Government has a 2010 road map for the development of the telecom industry, which officials hope will annually generate US$3.5 billion in revenue after three years. — VNS
