More than 30 different types of equipment for the Dung Quat oil refinery, weighing over 3,100 tonnes, arrived in the Dung Quat wharf in central Quang Ngai province, on August 1.

The batch of equipment included the first stage regenerator which weighs 634.5 tonnes and is 26m long and 13 m in diameter.

This is the 10th batch of equipment that has been imported through the Dung Quat port to be installed in the oil refinery.

The construction of the Dung Quat oil refinery was kicked off in the Dung Quat industrial Zone in Quang Ngai province, in June 2005 and is scheduled to be put into operation by February 2009.

The 2.5 billion USD Dung Quat oil refinery will be capable of processing 6.5 million tonnes of crude oil per year and refining 33 percent of the country’s entire demand for petrol and oil. Its products will include propylene, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), lead-free petrol, diesel oil and fuel oil.
